La botte de la victime, \u00ab\u00a0MSC Roberto\u00a0\u00bb, mesure 244 m de long, a une jauge brute de 39.892 tonnes, est immatricul\u00e9e au Panama et a voyag\u00e9 en Gr\u00e8ce depuis la Turquie. Le second navire impliqu\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;accident a une longueur de 185 m, 23.646 tonnes de cargaison immatricul\u00e9e appel\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0Aegean Wind\u00a0\u00bb, et a voyag\u00e9 du Ghana \u00e0 l&rsquo;Ukraine. Les d\u00e9troits ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ferm\u00e9s jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 ce que le MSC Roberts puisse \u00eatre remorqu\u00e9 en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9. Le P&amp;I du navire mobilise imm\u00e9diatement la Mavi Deniz Environmental Protection Services Corporation ; le P&amp;I Club pour effectuer des op\u00e9rations de nettoyage, et \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re du jour, il d\u00e9tient d\u00e9j\u00e0 des navires d&rsquo;intervention en cas de d\u00e9versement d&rsquo;hydrocarbures, des barges, des camions \u00e0 vide, des \u00e9cumeurs, des estacades, de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipement d&rsquo;intervention et une \u00e9quipe d&rsquo;intervention d&rsquo;urgence sur place et travaillant \u00e0 contenir la fuite dans le r\u00e9servoir de carburant du navire panam\u00e9en. La quantit\u00e9 de d\u00e9versement d&rsquo;hydrocarbures a \u00e9t\u00e9 estim\u00e9e \u00e0 15 tonnes de mazout marin. 25 km de c\u00f4tes avec des animaux marins, des oiseaux aquatiques, des poissons et des bottes de p\u00eache ont \u00e9t\u00e9 touch\u00e9s par la mar\u00e9e noire. Les effets des d\u00e9versements d&rsquo;hydrocarbures \u00e0 divers stades de la vie comprennent les effets \u00e0 long terme sur les stocks de poissons, les activit\u00e9s de p\u00eache et les impacts physiques et \u00e9conomiques imm\u00e9diats. Le port de p\u00eache est inutilisable parce qu&rsquo;il est contamin\u00e9 par le p\u00e9trole. Les navires et les engins de p\u00eache sont souill\u00e9s par le p\u00e9trole. Les oiseaux de rivage ont \u00e9t\u00e9 touch\u00e9s alors qu&rsquo;ils se nourrissaient de plages huil\u00e9es. La mar\u00e9e noire affecte les coraux de la r\u00e9gion et cause une mortalit\u00e9 importante chez les poissons et les invert\u00e9br\u00e9s (y compris les homards, les crabes, les gast\u00e9ropodes, les bivalves, les pieuvres, les oursins, les \u00e9toiles de mer et les concombres de mer). Les algues naturelles et les alevins ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9truits dans de nombreuses r\u00e9gions.
