Serikali za nchi nyingi sasa zinathibitisha mkataba huo. Ni chombo cha msingi cha kimataifa cha kutekeleza mifumo ya ufanisi ya kukabiliana na kitaifa na mifumo ya ushirikiano wa kimataifa katika upunguzaji mkubwa wa mafuta. Mkataba wa OPRC unazitaka serikali kuanzisha mazoezi kwa mashirika yanayohusika na majibu ya uchafuzi wa mafuta na mafunzo ya wafanyakazi husika.
