The oleophilic brush, mop, drum, or disc are propelled between the catamaran hulls at the vessel’s speed over the water, passed into the water at the vessel’s bow, and recovered to the vessel storage. The Catamaran Oil Skimming System’s success lies with the extremely high performance of the Oil Recovery capacity, which can collect a wide range of oil types and a wide range of operating conditions. Catamaran Collector – Oil Skimmer Modules
- Brush Module
The brushes rotated down through the oil slick, and the oil collected on the discs were removed using scrapers, and the oil flowed into a tank., where a pump offloaded the oil up to collection tanks.
- Disc Module
The discs rotated down through the oil slick, and the oil collected on the discs was removed using scrapers in between the discs. Oil flowed from the discs, down the scrapers, and into a tank, where a pump offloaded the oil up to collection tanks.
- Drum Module
The drums rotated down through the oil slick, and the oil collected on the drums was removed using scrapers. Oil flowed from the wipers into a tank, where a pump offloaded the oil up to collection tanks.
- Mop Module
Mop Module selectively attracts oil and water-in-oil emulsions, ensuring the complete recovery of spilled oil entering between the hulls. The oleophilic rope mops are propelled between the side hulls at the vessel’s speed over the water, passed into the water at the vessel’s bow, and recovered over a roller fitted at midships. The oil is then completely removed from the rope when pressed as it goes through a wringer near the skimmer’s bow. The recovered oil is initially collected in a sump beneath the wringer unit then transferred via an onboard pump to the built-in storage tanks or alternative storage such as a floating tank.
The Catamaran Oil Skimming Systems incorporate oil removal and handling systems to allow operation in any conditions. Oil Skimmer units come complete with skimmer unit, pump unit, hydraulic & transfer hydraulic power unit. The number of modules can be varied accordingly, depending on the width of the vessel’s recovery channel. Due to the orientation between the vessel hulls, the brush system’s recovery capacity will not be affected by sea conditions.
The Brush Skimmer – Disc Skimmer – Drum Skimmer Mop Skimmer modules can raise and lower to the functional level by hydraulic rams, thus minimizing operator intervention and allowing the vessel to travel at a higher speed when not recovering oil.
