OFFSHORE – IMO LEVEL 3 (OPRC) TRAINING COURSE

MAVI DENIZ signed a contract with Pakistan Offshore Oil Company for IMO (OPRC) Level 3 On–Scene Commander Training Course between 4th August to 7th August 2015, held and completed in Istanbul, Turkey.

Mavi Deniz offers customers and governmental agencies responsible for oil spill response, monitoring, and controlling a three-level, fully accredited training program mandated by the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Mavi Deniz’s training program is offered locally or on-site at the customer’s location.

The course is designed for senior managers, administrators, and senior officials who may be involved in planning for or managing the response to an oil spill.

Managing an oil spill involves decisions that can affect the response outcome and the responsible party’s reputation.

Many issues must be addressed, such as political and media pressure, public environmental awareness, legal and financial implications, and the overriding awareness of public and response personnel’s safety.

The Oil Spill Management – IMO Level 3 course gives the senior manager or administrator an overview of these issues. It allows delegates to experience the complexities of oil spill management through practical and tabletop exercises.

Oil spill response personnel training is integral to preparedness and response; a warehouse stocked with state-of-the-art oil recovery equipment is useless without the adequately trained workforce to deploy and operate the equipment efficiently and effectively.

In any oil spill incident and scenario, the response time is critical to clean-up operations’ successful outcomes and long-term impacts on ecosystems and environments.

The course objectives are to understand the complexities of oil spill management and consider the political and media pressures, the safety issues concerning response personnel and the public, and the post-operational requirements.
