Sediment transport and sediment management are pressing concerns in the Danube Basin. Initially, this project aimed to enhance the ecological status, reduce flood risks, and improve navigation conditions. It also aimed to produce durable hydropower electric energy to improve the quality of drinking water, provide recreation, and halt the loss of biodiversity in the Danube Basin.
